The Ten Commandments for better living by SLA

The Ten Commandments for better living by Sherri L. Ashby

1. Thou shall not dis God— News flash: God is the Alpha and the Omega (The beginning and The end), He isn’t going any where so there’s no use in living like He doesn’t exist. If you don’t acknowledge Him now trust me, you will have to acknowledge Him later. Put God first and I promise that you will see drastic improvements in all areas of your life.

2. Thou shall not have unforgiveness— Let it go already! What Shaniqua did in 4th grade or what June-bug did last summer is nothing worth harboring. Let the past stay in the past and move on with your life. Stop dwelling on things you can’t change and learn to forgive. Forgiveness is about healing yourself it’s not about letting people get away with anything. Besides, nobody wants to be around a complaining, whining, bitter person. Do yourself and everyone else a favor, suck it up, swallow your pride, and forgive.

3. Thou shall not be a jerk— You ever hear the old saying “what goes around comes around?” Well it’s true, and if you’ve been a jerk it’s a guarantee that the harm you’ve done is coming back for you. Be nice. Speak to people how you want to be spoken to, treat people how you want to be treated. Life is one big circle you never know what you may need in the future from the person you’ve been a jerk to.

4. Thou shall not live above one’s means— If you can’t afford it don’t buy it. If you don’t need it don’t buy it. Staying fly is not worth years of debt.

5. Thou shall pay your bills on time— Tired of bill collectors harassing you? Afraid to open your mail? If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions you know it’s time to start paying your bills on time. Putting off paying your bills is not going to make them disappear. You are actually making the people you owe richer because they’re tacking on late fees and higher interest rates because of your delayed payments. For the sake of your credit score and a peace of mind pay your bills on time.

6. Thou shall think positively— They say you are what you eat well I believe you are what you think. If you don’t like the way your life is going try changing the way you think. Stop thinking and talking negatively, it’s not attractive.

7. Thou shall not be a hater— Jealous much? God is big enough to bless everybody, so stop worrying about what other people have or don’t have. Worry about yourself. Learn to be happy for people when they get blessed and maybe God will bless you with something better.

8. Thou shall go to work or school— The point here is to be productive, do something with yourself. Idleness breeds failure and trouble for your life.

9. Thou shall be prayerful— A few prayers a day will keep the devil away. No one will escape the problems and pains of life therefore arm yourself with prayer so when the storms of life come you will be ready.

10. Thou shall live with an open heart— We have enough nasty and foul people in the world, dare to be different. To live with an open heart means to love like Jesus taught. I know it’s scary to leave yourself open, but loving someone else besides yourself can actually make you a better person.

Very motivational thoughts. I plan to give copies to at least 6 young adults I know who neither want to work or go to school. Yet wonder why life is not going their way. They suffer from not only idistractions; but WII -distractions as well.
